Small Correction on Taxable Scholarship Income

Minutiae 8 Comments

On Day Two I had included in the text box that appears (when discussing ruby red grapefruit juice — earned income) I had included Taxable Scholarship income.  That is not subject to FICA.

Any chance the App will be up today?

    Hi John,
I wish! We just have a few more t’s to cross and it’ll be ready :)

    Hi Jesse,

Great job on the tax course so far. Even though I am somewhat familiar with most of the concepts covered so far (I am a business minor), the course is giving me a clearer understanding of the mystical world of t@xe$ :)

Thank you so much for creating this course! I really like your teaching style. It makes it very easy to grasp some concepts that are often not explained in an easy to understand manner, and a lot of people don’t fully understand.

The new app looks great! I will definitely be taking advantage of it. Just one thing you may want to consider. Due to the personal information entered into the app, I think many people would be a lot more willing to use the app if they knew their personal financial data was not being sent as “cleartext”, unencrypted over the Web.

I wish more business owners understood the value of something like this course in building solid relationships with their current and future clients/customers.

    Thanks again!

    Mike

PS. I can’t wait to get my hands on the upcoming iPhone YNAB App ;)

    Hey Mike,
I just might get an SSL certificate to put everyone’s minds at ease. The app is a client-side flash app, so data doesn’t actually “travel” anywhere. Also, since we’re simply inputting numbers without any identifying information at all, that cuts the risk down to almost nothing.
That being said, I’d rather just have it under SSL and let everyone know “it’s secure” with that — instead of the above explanation. :)

I like the app. Really helps me see how “the flow” of taxes: how one area impacts another.

    Jesse,

I agree with Mike’s statement on you teaching style. Your enthusiasm and ability to use props to explain your message simplifies a rather complex subject of taxes.

I am looking forward to your course tomorrow.

    Thank you,

    Jeff

    Jesse,
Thank you for doing this tax course. I really enjoy it and so do my children. My 3 year old and my 5 year old saw me watching the first two video clips and they wanted to watch them over and over and over. They are starting young to learn about minimizing taxes.:)
    Thanks,
    Eve
